An object has to be functional and has to be fun. Because the word fun is inside the word function.

less < more

The Japanese philosopher Yanagi So Etsu once said, “make beautiful things, make things to be used. Eliminate anything that is unnecessary to use is key to good design.

A prolific designer and architect Oky Sato is known for roughly 400 projects at a time. His playful yet simple style has made him one of the world's most in-demand designers.

So, what turns him into a design?

According to Sato, designers are kind of close to a chef. Some designers enjoy working on certain kinds of vegetables or kinds of meat but he is more like a mother trying to cook something and he opens the refrigerator and finds bits and pieces of things and he just comes up with new ideas. So he wanted to design things. Eventually a designer.

An object has to be functional and has to be fun. Because the word fun is inside the word function. It's not about colors or aesthetics but it's a story behind the object. An object has to be talkative. It has to be telling an interesting story. The idea to be like sushi or sashimi. It should be fresh and just cut the raw fish and then you serve. You should not hold your ideas too long or you shouldn’t love your ideas too much.
